I am currently studying at Aston as part of my Erasmus+ exchange, how will Brexit affect me?

When the UK leaves the European Union on 31 January, it will enter the formal transition period up until 31 December 2020. During this period, nothing will change for you,  and there will be no impact on your Erasmus+ status during the remainder of your studies during the academic year 2019/20.

EU identity cards will remain valid for travel to the UK until 31 December 2020. In January 2021, a new UK immigration system will be introduced. You can also continue to enter the UK using e-gates when travelling on a biometrics passport. No further information on the new UK immigration system is available at present.

I am hoping to come as an Erasmus+ student to Aston University in September 2020. Can I still come?

When the UK leaves the European Union on 31 January, it will enter the formal transition period up until 31 December 2020.  During this transition period, the UK will continue to contribute to the EU budget, which means that UK universities can continue to participate in Erasmus+.

Please talk to your Erasmus / Study Abroad office at your University about how to apply for a place at Aston University.
