We are continuously developing our campus to offer more from the University as well as improving the existing buildings. Here is a list of our planned developments:
The Pavilion is envisaged as the hub of the landscaped area which completes the campus redevelopment following the completion of Aston Student Villages and the demolition of Stafford Tower.
Four major pedestrian thoroughfares converge on the plaza and pavilion where grass covered terracing forms an informal amphitheatre and a broad pathway leads down to the Chancellor’s Lake.
The project comprises of the installation of a single storey glazed pavilion including canopies with “sails” to provide both shade and shelter from the rain on all sides of the building. Inclined arms will carry flags at the outer ends of the sails to give the pavilion even greater presence. It will include the installation of a coffee, soft drinks and cold food server.
The University is planning to undertake a £9m remodelling and refurbishment of the North Wing which will include provision for EAS at Lower Ground, Ground, First and Second Floor levels.
The project will provide a new reception and waiting area, open plan laboratories, a Clean Room incorporating change lobbies and inner rooms for high power laser work, audio visual installation to meet the various requirements for display screens linked to instrumentation and the ability to display information between laboratories.
We are redeveloping some of our existing buildings to create a new Student's Union as well as new facilities for the Aston Business School and the Brasshouse Language Centre.
A £1.6m project to improve the public access areas around Aston Business School following the demolition of the Students Union and elements of the VisCom building. This will include hard and soft landscaping to enhance the quality of the space.
The Aston Medical School will reside in an existing building which will undergo a £1.1m reconfiguration and refurbishment to meet the requirements of the School.
The School will house lecture theatres, seminar rooms, social study spaces, a PC laboratory for digital dissection and objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) laboratories for clinical work as well as office space for tutorials and staff.
A refurbishment to room G8 of the Main Building which will encompass upgrading the space to provide a multipurpose and multifunctioning centralised teaching space.
The project will include general refurbishment and an upgrade to the audio visual equipment. This will support the multifunctioning characteristics of the room which encompasses teaching, events and examinations.
The upper North wing will be refurbished for use by the School of Languages and Social Sciences while the lower refurbishment will improve the Photonics institute.
As a part of the ongoing refurbishment and remodelling of the Main Building modifications, including upgrading of audio visual equipment will be made to the Conference Aston Meeting Suite to ensure the space meets teaching standards for flat floor accommodation.
