Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) dataset published in June 2020 showed:

  • Median earnings of employed Aston University graduates are £33,200 five years after graduation, the 15th largest in the UK
  • Graduates of Aston University’s Allied Health courses earn a median salary of £42,000 five years after graduation, the second largest in the country
  • Aston Business School graduates in business and management subjects have median earnings of £38,700 five years after graduation. Aston Business School employed graduates are the 17th largest earnings nationally.
  • The Department for Education’s LEO analysis also shows that after five years, 42% of Aston University’s employed graduates are still working in the West Midlands. This demonstrates the important contribution Aston University’s graduates make to the local economy.
  • Aston University’s Language and Area Studies graduates have the 9th largest median earnings at £31,000 five years after graduation.
  • For Aston University’s Architecture, Building & Planning subjects, Aston University’s graduates have the 12th largest median earnings at £38,100 five years after graduation.

The Longitudinal Education Outcomes Survey (LEO) is based on HMRC data from the latest available tax year and provides analysis of employment status and earnings of graduates. This analysis is based on First Degree graduates working and paying income tax in the UK.

Teaching Excellence Framework
  • A Government measure of teaching quality and student satisfaction, The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), has given Aston University a Gold award – the highest possible accolade.
  • TEF, published on 22 June 2017, found that students from all backgrounds achieve ‘consistently outstanding outcomes’ at Aston, with very high proportions of students going into highly skilled employment or further study.
