Welcome to Academic Services

Academic Services is the central focus for academic administration in the University, and includes the following teams:

  • Examinations (scheduling, management of examination rooms and invigilation).
  • The Graduate School (supporting the Graduate School Management Committee and quality assurance for postgraduate research students).
  • Planning and Management Information (Information for external returns and internal stakeholders).
  • Student Records (Management of the overall student record, scholarships, liaison with Student Finance organisations) This area manages tuition fee invoicing, Aston Support Fund, replacement degree certificates and HEAR documentation. Academic Appeals and Discipline also sit within this department.
  • Corporate Student Systems (Development and management of SITS and My Aston Portal).

Academic Services has an important role in the development, interpretation and application of regulations and other rules, procedures, and guidelines. These ensure consistent and fair treatment for all and help students and staff to know what is expected of them.

Academic Services is part of the wider Student and Academic Services Directorate.

Academic Services is responsible for Aston's central academic administration and supports the work of Colleges, and the University's regulatory, quality assurance, planning, and academic decision-making processes.
