The Notes for Examinations Candidates provides a summary of all the important information you will need to know before you sit your exams. Please read these notes before the start of your first examination.

Exams take place in Sports Hall.

The University holds exams in the new Doug Ellis Sports Hall, which is on the corner of Aston Street and Woodcock Street. The entrance is on Aston Street.

If your timetable states Sports Hall, please make sure you go to the right place.

We are mindful that the new facility is set on the corner of two roads so we want to ensure that you enter and exit the Sports Hall in a safe and secure manner so please observe the following:

  1. We would advise you to arrive at the Hall no earlier than 30 minutes before the exam is due to start. If you do arrive on campus early, you are welcome to wait in the Library or the Main Building. We do not want you to be waiting on the pavement for longer than necessary and you must not wait on the roads. Please do not wait in the Woodcock Main Reception as this will hinder their customers.
  2. 30 minutes before the exam is due to start, the Aston Street entrance will open and 2 exam marshals will be on duty, coordinating your entry.
  3. You will be allowed to wait in the Sports Hall foyer until the exam area is ready for you to enter. This is where the seating plan will be displayed. There are a limited number of lockers available if you wish to store your belongings in them but there will be room for your belongings inside the exam area.
  4. Once the exam has started, the Aston Street entrance will be closed and late entrance is through the Woodcock Main Reception on Woodcock Street.
  5. When the exam session has finished, you will be directed to exit the Sports Hall through a fire door and this leads you to Aston Street.
  6. We appreciate that some of you want to talk to your friends once you have left the Sports Hall – just make sure you are in a safe place and not standing in the road or obstructing the pavement.
