You may have heard about a significant data security incident affecting Blackbaud, one of the world’s largest providers of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems for the not-for-profit and Higher Education sectors. Aston University uses a Blackbaud system – RENXT – to record engagement with members of the University community, including alumni, their extended networks and supporters.
In July 2020, Blackbaud announced that they had been victim of a ransomware attack where their security had been breached and data for some customers had been accessed and removed.
Blackbaud has informed Aston University that it is not affected. Nevertheless, we are monitoring the situation and Blackbaud’s investigations and response closely, as data security is extremely important to us.
