What would you advise students to do before/after they graduate?
I would definitely advise students to make the most of their placement year. At Aston we are given a great opportunity to work in industry and this is from some students the first experience of working life. From your placement you will have a better understanding of what industry and job role you would like to work in. This will definitely help you streamline your choices when you start applying to Graduate jobs in final year.

I would also advise students in final year to apply early to jobs. Make sure at the end of your placement year you have edited your C.V. and have your references ready to apply. It is so important to be organised when applying for Graduate jobs as it is a very long and tedious process. However, if you stay focused and are willing to put in the work for interviews and assessment centres you will be rewarded!

What did you do after you graudated (first year after you graudated)? I had gained a place on the Danone Commercial Graduate Scheme before I graduated so I knew that I would be working when I finished University. I spent a few months travelling after my graduation and started my job in London in September 2018.

What do you enjoy about your current role? I really enjoy learning about all the different aspects within Healthcare Nutrition. I work within medical marketing for our early life nutrition for the brands Cow & Gate and Aptamil. It is totally differentto anything I have worked in before and I have a genuine interest to bringing health to infants and children through our products. I am currently working on developing a CPD accredited e-Learning app for Healthcare Professionals to learn about the different infant diseases our products help treat.

I am also the brand manager of our product Pepti Junior and I am working on redeveloping one of our anti reflux products to make sure it is compliant with EU regulations. At Danone there is an amazing collaborative and friendly ethos. The team I work with are great and very supportive. You really feel like you are making a difference by bringing health through food to all our consumers.

What are your career ambitions for the future? In my placement year I worked in Hong Kong and Australia. Danone is a huge global company so I would really like to work for them outside of Europe. I definitely enjoy marketing so one of my goals is to work within marketing for Danone in either Asia or South America. I would like to lead global teams on projects, help build our brands in developing markets and ultimately, I would like to be in a position to keep increasing our reach to help those across all different countries and age ranges who could really benefit from our products.
