Course and graduation year: BSc International Business and Management, graduated 2018

Current job role and organisation: Britvic Soft Drinks, Brand Management, Robinsons

Why did you choose Aston University?

At the time, Aston had a remarkable reputation with the Business School. I attended their open day, and felt really welcomed, and instantly could see myself there. As I’ve started my career after graduating, the businesses I’ve worked for have hired Aston graduates, and many now in senior positions. This has been great to see and given me the confidence I made the right choice!

What did you enjoy about your course?

I chose IBAM as I could tailor my degree to what I was interested in. I’ve always had an interest in Marketing but felt that I needed a good level of knowledge in the other areas of business such as accounting, finance and law to accompany that. I had always wanted to work abroad, and choosing IBAM enabled me to work in Vietnam for a year and travel around Southeast Asia. An experience I will never forget!

What else did you get involved in while you were here?

Whilst studying, I was a member of Aston Women in Business, and in final year was President of the society. This was a great experience as I managed to meet a lot of other likeminded students and connect with businesses. I was also a Student Ambassador and worked for the University part time to earn some money on the side.

What did you like about living in Birmingham?

Coming from a quite village and a small town, I was eager to experience life living in a city. I liked that Aston was in the heart of the city centre, but had that campus and ‘bubble’ like feel, so you really have the best of both worlds.

What did you do immediately after you graduated?

I joined an FMCG Commercial Graduate Scheme

What is your current job (position and organisation)?

Brand Management, Britvic Soft Drinks

What do you enjoy about it?

I have a real interest in consumer products and love trying the newest food and drinks. Brand Management is rewarding to me because you can work on ideas, and eventually see them come to life, and see shoppers pick up your products in supermarkets. Brand Management also has many elements which will never leave you board; you could be working on some new product concepts, to working on advertising briefs, to looking at performance data.

What are your career ambitions for the future?

I'm a keen traveller and love learning and embracing new cultures. I worked in Vietnam for my placement year and would hope I can work abroad again.

What advice would you give to current Aston students?

Make the most of your student life and freedoms, you'll miss it once you start the 9-5.

What do you miss the most about studying at Aston?

Living so close to my friends and studying with them!

How would you sum up your time at Aston in one word (both in English and your home language!)

Memorable
