“Aston has a reputation many companies recognise, when you graduate from Aston, you won't be unemployable. Use this to your advantage!”

Why did you choose Aston University I chose Aston as the Business school had a remarkable reputation, and was in the top 10 at the time. When I visited on the open day, I really felt welcomed and could see myself there. The modules seemed interesting, and I really admired the fact that a year abroad was compulsory. Another big seller for me was that Aston is campus based, yet a 10 minute walk from the city centre; coming from a small village and a small town, I was craving city life.

What did you enjoy about the course you studied? I enjoyed IBAM as we were able to tailor our degree as we wished, we were able to pick modules that we were interested in, and could shape our placement year too. I have always had an interest in marketing, but studying IBAM in comparison, enabled me to also study a few law and communications modules too, providing me with variety and a stronger skills set. I also appreciated that a lot of our lecturers were from industry, and had experience they could apply to their teachings, and industry links to help.

What advice would you give to current Aston students? Always study what you are most interested in, you'll put the effort in subconsciously and you'll reap the benefits in return.  Aston has a reputation many companies recognise, when you graduate from Aston, you won't be unemployable. Use this to your advantage! Enjoy your university experience, and get involved in as many societies and events around campus. I'm still in touch with my old society connections to the point we're even discussing new business opportunities together!

How would you sum up your time at Aston in 1 word? Memorable

What do you enjoy about your current role? My current role is really varied and enables me to interact with lots of different departments, and sites across the business. I'm able to take ownership of projects and voice my opinions. My favourite part about my role is supporting the process of an idea on a brief, to bringing it to life and seeing the product on shelf!

What are your career ambitions for the future? I'm a keen traveller and love culture. I worked in Vietnam for my placement year, and have ambitions to work overseas again, preferably in marketing. Although, I'd love to have and run my own business sometime in the future.
