“Do something that you have a passion for. Don't apply for a job simply because it looks great on your CV or because you believe that's the way to be successful.”

Why did you choose Aston University?
I chose to study at Aston University because of the uniqueness of the course, International Business and Spanish, the opportunity to take part in the Erasmus year abroad and the small university feel at Aston. I felt at other universities you'd be a number among thousands and thousands of students, but at Aston, it felt more like a family a had a community feel.

What did you enjoy about your course? Like Aston, the IBML course was small. There were 50 of us in total and it made it easier to get to know everyone, not just those who were studying IBML Spanish. Having subjects taught in both languages really added to the challenge of the course and the opportunity to put what we had learned into practice during our Erasmus year abroad was invaluable.

What did you do after you graduated? After I graduated, I applied to the BSEEN programme. I didn't want to opt for a corporate role or apply to graduate schemes, so BSEEN was a natural step with access to funding, an office space on Aston's campus along with mentoring and training. Trying to start Virtalent in such a supportive, encouraging and entrepreneurial environment gave me the best start in my career as an entrepreneur.

What advice would you give to current Aston students? My advice to current Aston students would be to do something that you have a passion for. Don't apply for a job simply because it looks great on your CV or because you believe that's the way to be successful. You'll find true success by constantly learning, being open to change, challenging the norm and making a difference.

What do you enjoy about your current role? I love how every day is different. One day I could be recruiting my next team member, reviewing applications and carrying out interviews, another day I could be working with my Client Success Manage, Alice, to see how we can add more value to our clients and existing team. I could also be working with my Co-Founder, Sam, on the strategy, vision and direction of the company to decide how best to grow the company and retain our talented team of 40 Virtual Assistants.

How would you sum up your time at Aston in one word? Invaluable.
