“I love sport and I enjoy the challenge of human resources, I know I am very lucky to have the two brought together in my career.”

Why did you choose Aston University?
I chose to study at Aston University due to the offering of a placement year to gain experience in the field and at the time Aston was the only university offering a specific HR degree.

What did you enjoy about your course? I really enjoyed my Employment Law module in second and final year, we used real business case scenarios to paint the scene of what we need to be aware of in industries today.

What advice would you give to current Aston students? My advice to current Aston students would be to not give up, I found my first year at university difficult due to the vast topics we covered, however my second year was a lot more focused. Looking back now I can see the importance of having a general business first year to understand other areas of business.

How would you sum up your time at Aston in one word? Inspirational.

What do you enjoy about your current role? I absolutely love my role, so much I would do it voluntarily. I enjoy the challenge of working with passionate teams, working for the number one brand in the world and I get to work with inspiring athletes all around the world. I love sport and I enjoy the challenge of human resources, I know I am very lucky to have the two brought together for my career. My role is very generalist which I enjoy as I can get involved in as many different projects as I like, the people that I work with are very experienced and have backgrounds in different industries which I find interesting.

What are your career ambitions for the future? Nike is a global brand, and the opportunities really are endless. I inspire to continue developing my knowledge and experience within Human Resources by progressing to a HR Manager in the UK. I would like to explore opportunities overseas and ideally support other HR enthusiasts on developing their HR careers.
