We need your support to ensure Aston's work remains life-changing
In 2016, Aston University launched the Pioneers for Change fundraising campaign and pledged to support health, business, research, widening participation and students. You joined us to support Aston’s Pioneers.
Take a look below for more information about the projects featured in the film:
A research project led by Professor Roslyn Bill discovered that chemical treatment can prevent the brain tissue swelling after traumatic injury, by blocking water from entering. This could eliminate the need for high-risk surgery and shorten rehabilitation dramatically in many cases, offering the potential to save millions of lives.
Food and agri-tech is of increasing international importance both in the UK, where agri-food represents a £103 billion industry, and globally where the challenge is to safely feed an increasing population in the face of climate change. Food quality and safety are among the largest challenges that can have a direct impact on health and welfare of people. New advances in photonics and new emerging technologies offer considerable opportunities for further research applications which have the potential to revolutionise the food and agri-tech industries.
An international nonprofit organisation providing a platform for university students. The work transforms both the lives of the people we serve, and in turn, the lives of our students as they develop into more effective, values-driven leaders. Aston’s students and staff work with business leaders to develop life changing projects aiming to make the world a better place.
With nearly half of Aston's undergraduates coming from families with low incomes, scholarships are an important source of support and can enable these students to fulfil their potential.
Support out students by offering work placements or internships to help them gain valuable work experience. Over 70% of our students take up a sandwich placement as part of their studies both in the UK and overseas. They require paid and unpaid work placements for up to a year.
Aston’s students are supported throughout their studies with student and graduate mentor schemes, giving practical tips, networking opportunities and support.
