Sara Saynor Aston Business School

Sara began her career as an audit trainee in KPMG Birmingham specialising in the manufacturing sector in the West Midlands.  After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) Sara joined Ernst & Young as a Tax Manager, specialising the employee related tax schemes and share based payment arrangements.  This led to a role as a Human Capital Consultant with Towers Watson working on employee reward and organisational change projects for a wide range of private and public sector clients.

Sara began to lecture on a freelance basis in 2006 before joining BPP Professional Education as a tutor, training accountants for their professional exam qualifications (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS and AAT).  She specialised in management accounting, financial management and management theory. Sara joined Birmingham City University (BCU) lecturing on their ACCA Professional Programme and Undergraduate modules focusing on management accounting and finance areas. Sara joined Aston Business School as a Teaching Fellow in January 2016.

Sara’s goal is to use her accounting, tax and business experience to bring subjects to life and is keen to break down complex subjects into accessible steps.  Whilst at BCU Sara completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy which led to her interest in learning technologies.
