The use of analytical methods for better decision making

The Business Analytics Team teaches and researches in the field of quantitative analysis for better decision making.  One of the key areas for which the team has a world-wide reputation is that of efficiency through Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA).  The team is also well known for its work in data mining, big data and forecasting.

The Business Analytics Team teaches subjects which prepare students for the demand in the workplace for anaytics in such areas as manufacturing, retailing, regulation of utilities, managing the efficient delivery of health, education and other services.

Members of Business Analytics Team

Members of the Business Analytics Team have made important contributons to methodologies in business analytics.  Several have served and continue to serve in Editorial capacities in some of the most prestigious journals in their field, including the European Journal of Operational Research and the Journal of the Operational Research Society.  They run the annual conference of the International Society of Data Envelopment Anaysis.  Their applied work has included collaboration with OFWAT (regulator of water companies), HEFCE (funding higher education in England), The Department for Communities and Local Goverment and Consultancy Companies.
