I lead on the development and implementation of evidence-informed assessment and psychometric analysis in the Medical School, and contribute to teaching health psychology for the Social and Psychological Aspects of Health Block in the MBChB Programme. As for my background, I have a PhD in Psychology of Social Representations and a PG Cert in Medical Education. I am Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I am interested in the development and evaluation of psychometric measures in different domains, particularly assessment in medical education. I am also interested in the application of modern psychometrics (Item Response Theory, Structural Equation Modelling) to the assessment of the reliability and validity of advanced knowledge tests, clinical examinations, and multiple mini interviews for admissions in medical education.

I am currently leading a longitudinal research project focussed on the investigation of the role of and the interaction between medical students’ self-regulated learning and individual differences in personality, resilience, and emotional intelligence, particularly in shaping their progression and academic attainment in the undergraduate medical programme.
