Experience counts. JobShop can help you find part-time or volunteering opportunities to help you with your career journey.

Why should you get a part-time job or voluntary role?

Work experience gives you a competitive edge when you apply for placement and graduate roles, and offers an insight into the world of work. And that’s before you add in the benefits of money to see you through your degree, or an opportunity to help others. Don't just take our word for it, research show that students who have gained extra-curricular experience are more employable.

Drop into JobShop, or book an appointment for CV guidance for part-time and voluntary roles, applying for jobs and preparing for interviews. Browse our website and gain access to over 15,000 vacancies.

The most useful thing you can do to help your future career is to find a part-time job or voluntary role now.

When is the best time to look for work experience?

Begin as soon as you start university, preferably in your first term. It gives you a head start to build your employability skills and your CV.

Wherever you are in your university journey, pop in to JobShop and we will help you find the right role.

And remember: your work experience doesn’t have to be linked to your degree; whatever you do shows that you are a self-starter and gives you a track record in the world of work.

“Part-time work helped me to build an idea of what I wanted to do and made me very employable. I also gained a lot of confidence, inspiration and motivation to explore and not be afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone.”
