Key deadlines for your placement search: 

September - December

Many of the big brand names have
pre-Christmas deadlines. Get in touch with your placement coordinator to find out more.

January - March

Lot's of SME’s start advertising in the New Year. Taking a placement in a smaller business will enable you to make a bigger impact. Consider your options. 

April - July

Still looking for a placement? Don’t panic, but don’t waste time either. Get in touch with your placement coordinator now.

Placement Year 

Now you are on placement you’ll be busy developing career skills and discovering more about yourself. But don’t forget about your course – there is still things you can be doing to prepare for next year.

First things first

  • Before your placement starts, upload your Job Description and contract to MAP to start the process of sorting out your finances. If you are taking a placement overseas, you will also need to upload the voluntary agreement and health and safety checklist. For study abroad, you will also need to upload the learning agreement and partner University advert. Get in touch with your Placement Coordinator if you have any questions.
  • Download your Placement Handbook and, if you are going abroad, look into insurance. Make sure you have all the information you need for the year 
  • Don’t forget, your Careers+Placements Team are here all over the summer.   

Don’t forget you are still studying

  • Contact your tutor to see if you need to arrange a visit. It’s up to you to sort this out – and it all counts towards your course. 
  • International Students – Don’t forget you must contact us on a regular basis to check in. Email

You’re learning new skills every day on placement. Make a note of projects you’ve helped with, meetings you’ve attended, designs you’ve had a hand in – whatever you are doing on placement will enhance your CV, so write It down.
