How to apply in Clearing

Our Clearing hotline (0800 917 5923) opens at 7am, 15 August, so you still have time to prepare.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to Clearing and how to secure a course that is right for you.

1. Take some time. Do your research

Right now, you have the luxury of time. Time to think, plan and identify your ideal course, so consider what you will do in all of these scenarios:

  • If you get better grades than expected
  • If you don’t do as well as you expect
  • If you want to change your course

Have an answer for each of these. We have a lot of courses in Clearing this year, so which ones do you think will take you where you want to be?

While the phones are quiet, now is the best time to ask these sort of questions. If you like, you can even call us up to talk through your options.

2. Get in touch with us

The Clearing hotline opens at 7am,15 August.

Call us on 0800 917 5923. All we need is:

  • Your grades
  • Your UCAS number

You can direct message us on  Facebook or  Twitter to apply as well. Find out more  here.

If you already have your grades, you can get in touch now and we’ll process your application for this September.

3. Accept your place on UCAS Track

Once we’ve made you an offer, add Aston University (A80) as an option on UCAS Track.

You then need to accept your place on UCAS Track. This option may take a short time to appear, but don’t worry. The Admissions team will update your status the same day you are made an offer.

4. Visit campus

A big part of university is where you study. Visiting campus is a critical part of your Clearing plan. We will share dates and times for accommodation and campus tours closer to Results Day.

5. Apply for accommodation

You’ll need somewhere to live.

Once you have your place, you can apply for campus accommodation. You will need your Student ID Number. This can take up to 48 hours to get to you.

You can secure your room  online.

6. Walk-in service

If you live locally and prefer to do things face-to-face, you can drop in on Results Day and have a chat with the Clearing team.

The walk-in service is open on:

  • Thursday 15th August (8.00am – 5.00pm)
  • Friday 16th August (9.00am – 12.00pm)
