General Regulations are designed to empower exam boards to make the most appropriate decisions. The chair of examination boards is delegated powers through the regulations and should wherever possible utilise these. However, in situations where a course of action is required which do not fit within General Regulations, a waiver can be requested from the Chair or Deputy Chair of the Regulation Sub-Committee.

Applications for waivers will now only be accepted by completing the form at the bottom of this page. For guidance on making your application, please contact Adam Hewitt, but any application must be made formally below.

Do's and Dont's

Do

  1. Give as much information as possible - the process is confidential but a record of all waiver requests is kept.
  2. Put in your request at the earliest possible convenience - whilst we endeavour to give answers quickly, this is not always possible, so please give us as much time as possible.
  3. Complete all of the boxes on the application form - failure to do so will likely result in a delay in your application.
  4. Contact the RSC Secretary in advance of your application if you need advice or guidance
  5. Follow up on your application if you have not heard anything within three working days.

Don't

  1. Assume an answer because you have had a similar case before - all waiver requests are considered on a case-by-case basis.
  2. Jump straight to the waiver system - consider what powers the regulations already delegate to Boards of Examiners.
