Viate resources

About Vitae: Vitae is a UK programme supported by Research Councils UK and UK HE funding bodies such as Department for Employment and Learning and Higher Education Funding Council. It now works  all over the world in partnership with researchers, higher education institutions, research organisations, research funders and other organisations with a stake in realising the potential of researchers.

Its aims are to:

  • build human capital by influencing the development and implementation of effective policy relating to researcher development
  • enhance higher education provision to train and develop researchers
  • empower researchers to make an impact in their careers
  • evidence the impact of professional and career development support for researchers

As it champions the personal, professional and career development of researchers in higher education institutions and research institutes, Vitae provides researchers, including research students and their supervisors, with a wide range of useful online information, advice, courses and resources.

Chief among the resources and tools it offers is Vitae Researcher Development Framework (RDF). The RDF, which is a tool developed by researchers and for researchers, has been now adopted by many universities and other HE institutions as it a comprehensive new approach to developing researchers.
