The Academic Practice Team within CLIPP provides support to staff in their professional development and deliver CPD sessions exploring various aspects of personal tutoring. Focused on the current university policy, topics such as overcoming barriers to learning; supporting students in crisis; and using MAP and other online resources to support tutees are covered, and wider themes such as clarifying the role of the tutor in providing pastoral support, recognising problems, being aware of the central support services and effective referral of tutees, and the limits of confidentiality, are also explored. Sessions also provide an opportunity for delegates to raise questions about the personal tutor role, and to share experiences and insights with colleagues.
