How to Pay

Aston offers a number of easy payment options though our online payment platforms. You can make payments via Credit or Debit Card and through the bank transfer platform, where a range of international payment methods are available.

Deposit Payments

All students will be required to pay a deposit to secure a place on their chosen course (see deposit payments only below). This information is provided in your offer letter, along with the details of your payment, including the amount to be paid and the date it will need to be paid by. This deposit amount will then be deducted from your first year’s tuition fees.

UK undergraduates and postgraduates who have taken out a student loan do not have to pay a deposit.

EU students

For the academic years 2021/22 and beyond, changes regarding tuition fees for EU students as this are dependent on the UK government’s negotiations with the EU. Please refer to our Brexit page for more information.

Your tuition fee is due at the start of the program; this is paid in full or in three instalments.

How to calculate each instalment of your tuition fees

The 50% of your fees in instalment 1 is 50% of net fees after any awarded scholarship or support is deducted from the gross fees. The example below illustrates how to calculate this amount.

Sanctions

What happens if I fail to pay my tuition fees?

If you fail to pay your tuition fees instalments in full by the due date or fail to set up and maintain a suitable payment plan, university sanctions will be applied to your student account. Sanctions will restrict you access to Library and IT facilities. This will prevent you from accessing your Aston Email, MAP and Blackboard, and block access course material or submitting work. Sanctions will also prevent you from graduating dependant on the level of debt owed.

Any applied sanction would remain in place until such time that a suitable arrangement to pay fees is in place and/or the outstanding account balance is settled.

If you are having difficulty paying

If you believe your payment is likely to be late or are having difficulty paying, you must contact the Accounts Receivable team immediately, either by via the contact form on solve or by calling 0121 204 4355. They will be able to discuss your situation and where possible agree a payment plan with you, within University regulation.

If you are facing financial difficulties and require help and advice you can contact The Student Advice Team at The Hub. There are advisers who will assist you, in addition a Funds Administrator is available to help with an application for financial assistance if you are in hardship.
