Access to the Library

The Main Entrance has frameless tinted-glass swing doors that open on to the barrier and reception lobby. There is an adapted gate-barrier for wheelchair access.

The reception desk is 100cm high and has leaflets available with information for students and visitors to the Library who have disabilities.

Getting around the Library

The Library has a simple floor plan, with corridors leading to toilet areas of 180cm in width. The lift serves all floors, though it is located within a staff-only area and students and visitors will need to speak to someone at the general inquiry desk for access.


The lift is for 10 people and has a floor area of 132cm by 141cm, with a door giving an access width of 80cm.

Food and Drink

Café Libro on the ground floor of the library serves a selection of hot and cold food and drinks. It is also an outlet for Starbucks. There is a counter at 114cm high, with a section at 86cm.

Toilet Facilities

The accessible toilet on the first floor is 164cm by 147cm and has a Radar lock; a key is available from staff on the general reception desk on the ground floor.

Access Features

Induction Loop (Telecoil) systems are fitted in reception and at the general enquiries desk on the ground floor as well as in the Seminar Room on Floor 2.

A height-adjustable work station is available in Computer Laboratory B on Floor 1.
