Welcome to Aston University

Welcome to Aston

We are really happy to learn that you will be joining Aston and we wanted to introduce ourselves and get you access to some of the key University systems.

Digital Services are the central support department that provides the University's digital services and facilities. We are here to help with everything from a broken mouse to running cloud-based machine learning systems, and everything in-between.

Help and Support

You can find lots of information via the University self-service portal called Solve, including news articles to keep you up to date with what is going on, knowledge articles to help answer your questions, and you can also log a call if you can't find the answer you need.

If you do need to speak to someone, then you can contact the Digital Services Helpdesk on +44 (0) 121 204 3445 or visit us in Main Building room G16.

Latest Policy Information

Before we get started we need to draw your attention to the latest policy information, available on the University website (Principles and Policies | Aston University). You will find all the Digital Services policies are under the stewardship section.

The key ones to read before going any further are the Acceptable Use Policy and the Security Policy, but please make sure you read and understand all the relevant policies for your role.

Let's get up and running

Now that you know who we are, let's get you up and running. The first thing you will need are your University account credentials:

Your Username: STUB_USERNANME
Your Password: STUB_PASSWORD
Your Email Address: STUB_EMAIL

Signing in for the first time

For security reasons, you must change your password the first time you sign in. You can do this from any device by signing in to Solve, and following the instructions on screen.

While we are talking about security, the next step is to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). You probably already use MFA to access your online banking, and this is just the same. Now that you are signed in to Solve, you can follow the knowledge article that walks you through setting up MFA, Security: MFA Setup and Management. Again, if you have any problems, just call the Digital Services Helpdesk for assistance.

That's it, your account is secure, and you are ready to go. The last thing for us to say is welcome to Aston and we look forward to working with you in the future.

Have a great day.
