Engineering Systems & Management

ESMWelcome from the Head of ESM Group

Dr Jack Carnell

A very warm welcome to the Engineering Systems and Management Group (ESM). Our aim is to help you succeed in your chosen degree programme where, over the coming 12 months, we hope the technical and managerial content will prove an enjoyable and interesting challenge. We also hope that you will take full advantage of the opportunities the programme will give you to develop your transferable and personal skills. Your success will depend to a large extent on a strong personal commitment - so in the final analysis, the onus is on you to succeed! It is essential that you participate fully in lectures and tutorials and that you engage with coursework and submit it on time!

Should problems of any kind arise, please seek help. If the problem is of an administrative nature, you should make enquiries at the School Office (eas_pg@aston.ac.uk) or the Hub; for academic matters please contact your Programme Director, David Carpenter, or your Personal Tutor. This Handbook provides essential information but, of course, cannot tell you everything. If the information you need isn’t in these pages, do not hesitate to ask!

I am sure that your time here as a postgraduate will be stimulating, rewarding and enjoyable. Finally, I look forward to meeting you, and wish you every success in your studies here at Aston.
