The project – ‘Towards Manufacturing of "Massive WDM" Metro (ToM3)’, aims to to address the technology, architecture, performance and manufacturing needs of next generation optical communications systems for metro networks.
Professor Nick Doran, Professor Lin Zhang and Dr Paul Harper from the AIPT will also be working on the project, along with project partners II IV Photonics and Oclaro Technology.
With these fellowships the EPSRC aims to support individuals who have the potential to be future research leaders in their field in Manufacturing research, supporting either academics who have recently moved from industry, or people in industry, involved in innovation, looking to move into academia. Wladek was awarded the maximum 5 years of support which was available for suitable candidates who not only have an appropriate background but can also articulate their vision for utilising their industrial experience to inform their future research direction.
