As Deputy Director of EBRI, I have taken a lead role in managing the development of the European Bioenergy Research Institute (EBRI) including funding management of a new building with large industry demonstration facilities and project management of marketing and knowledge transfer programmes. This includes:

  • Business development and marketing programmes
  • Technology commercialisation
  • Delivery of demonstrator sites
  • Stimulation of collaborative research
  • Development of new business propositions in energy and digital expansion
  • Development and management of international projects including delivery of briefing events, overseas presentations, links with UK and Overseas governments.

I have over 20 years experience as a leader and manager working with technology projects at both strategic and operational levels. This includes over 15 years at director level in start-up companies and large organisations.

I have worked as a board member on UK Science parks Association and represented the science parks agenda at an international level, including launching their first digital platform. I have also Consulted for the British Council and UK Government on Science Parks and Smart Cities in China and Australia.

I have managed large knowledge transfer projects on smart cities, digital and energy themes. This included studies for the UK government on technology and urban social inclusion, digital support for knowledge transfer and broadband aggregation.

I set up and managed an EU funding programme to stimulate innovation in digital business through micro finance.

I have set up and managed a university spin out company. This included setting up one of the first Internet Service Providers in the UK, deploying urban wireless connections across a UK city and developing some of the first content management software on the internet.

This work has provided me with a good knowledge of technology, business and innovation from both the public and private sector perspective, including managing technical consultancies serving top level government and large business clients.
