AstBUG Member Benefits
Brompton have installed a cycle locker on campus by the South Wing taxi rank. Staff, students and members of the public can rent a bicycle on a daily basis and leave it in any Brompton cycle locker around Birmingham (or throughout the UK). Further details can be found on their website, which includes the annual membership and daily rental rates: www.bromptonbikehire.com/
AstBUG members get a 50% discount on the annual membership costs. Contact us for the discount code.
Although there are security personnel and CCTV facilities on site, bikes are always at risk of being stolen. Please ensure your bike is locked securely. It is recommended to use a D lock (which can be purchased from Security - see above). Lock the frame and wheel high up on the cycle stand so it's more difficult to maneuver, ensuring you lock any quick release wheels - you may need more than one lock.
There are over 200 cycle parking spaces on campus, with more on the way! If a particular shelter is full, it is very likely that there will be a free space at another shelter. you can find the locations of these shelters on the map below.
Please do not park your bike anywhere other than the designated parking spaces; you risk having your bike moved by Security if it is found to be inappropriately parked. Please refer to the Abandoned and Inappropriately Parked Bicycle Policy if you have any queries.
