If you want to use uniPRINT on an unmanaged computer you will need to install the print queue first. Below you will find instructions on how to do this for each operating system, Windows, Apple Mac OS X and Ubuntu / Linux.
Note: If you're using a Chromebook, tablet, or mobile phone, you won't be able to add the uniPRINT printers - you can use the mobile print service to send your work to print instead.
You may also wish to open 'Devices and Printers' from the control panel, right-click the new print queue and select 'Set as default', to make this your main printer.
You should now be able to print to uniPRINT. If you have any problems please contact the IT Helpdesk.
You can now use uniPRINT from your Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad) and the latest version of the Mac operating system (OS X)
From an iOS device select 'Print' from any application and then select printer. This will search and find a printer called 'uniprint'.
You will be asked to login with your Aston University username and password, however this will be remembered on the device for future use.
The way you print is different depending on the app you want to print from. For more information, see the documentation for the app. When you select a printer, make sure you select a Mobility Print printer as identified by the PaperCut icon.
If you select the 'Remember Me' checkbox, your phone will remember your login details for that printer for one week.
Device requirements - Mobility Print supports Android 4.4+.
These two options complement the capabilities of uniPRINT's other mobile and bring you own device (BYOD) printing solutions. And is a great way for our visitors to access the printing facilities.
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, common picture file formats including jpg, tig, gif and png as well as PDF attachments are all printable via these two methods.
Email to Print is a simple way to print from any device that can send an email. Compose a new email to [email protected], attach your documents and hit send. You will receive an email confirmation once the print job is received and processed by uniPRINT.
This method is similar to the above, except that you need to login to myuniprint.aston.ac.uk and upload the documents via the Web Print link. Once processed these will appear on your normal print queue and will be accessible on any uniPRINT device around the campus.
