A recent example was a major Education Policy Dialogue in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where Aston University partnered with the British Council and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training in the first in a series of six British Council global education policy dialogues across SE Asia. Government ministers and officials, university and business leaders from across the region, attended the two day event.

Pro- Vice Chancellor Prof Alison Halstead, was a keynote speaker at the dialogue on “Employability skills in Southeast Asia and the needs of the new economy: The challenge for higher education” and Aston’s pre-eminence in developing employability skills and employer engagement was singled out for praise by  both the Vice Minister of Education and Training for Vietnam, Prof Dr Tran Quang Quy (who visited Aston in March 2012) and the British Ambassador to Vietnam, Dr Antony Stokes.
