Additional Support (Disability and Special Needs)
The special needs grant is an additional support fund, supporting special need/disability students who are on the Erasmus+ programme at Aston. Each application is assessed based on the student’s requirements and certain other criteria; funding cannot be guaranteed.
Students who would like to make a Special Needs Support Application should read the guidelines in the application form to check if they meet all the requirements before contacting us and requesting to apply on their behalf (all application must be submitted by HE institution not students directly).
This information below is set out in the special needs application form but ensure you have:
- the application completed in full and signed by both the student and staff lead;
- a letter from the student doctor /hospital;
- a letter from the host institution, confirming they are able to support and accommodate the student;
- a letter from your institution, informing us of your student’s level of disability and additional requirements.
Please, bear in mind that all special needs support applications should be submitted a few months before you are going away on your placement. Contact email@example.com to apply.
Where can I find an Erasmus+ Placement?
Erasmus+ opportunities are advertised on Aston Futures. Once logged into your account, search Aston Futures for ‘fixed term’ positions in Europe, or your country of choice.
Key Action 107 (Mobility of Individuals Partner Countries)
This key action is referred to as ‘International Credit Mobility’, which enables mobility to and from partner countries (outside of the EU). A list of which can be found here. To date, successful student exchange projects have included activity in Brazil, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine and Uzbekistan amongst others. Students cannot apply for this funding and instead will be contacted if eligible (applications are made by the University for Specific Areas each year and is highly competitive).
