Students who have achieved an average of 80% in the academic subjects in their Senior High School Leaving Certificate after 3 years of study may be considered for a Foundation programme.    

Students with 2 or 3 year University or College Diploma can be considered for undergraduate study - Year 1 entry. Applicants should be scoring a min of 80% average in relevant  academic subjects. 
University students who have studied 1-2 years (full-time) at a recognised university may be eligible for first year entry, dependent on subjects, institution and grades.  

Postgraduate - Taught 

You should have a Bachelors degree from an Chinese university but the specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Chinese university which you have graduated from. In general applicants should be scoring:

  • Aston Business School and School of Engineering and Applied Science courses – in the range of 70-75% average as a minimum.  
  • School of Life and Health Sciences and School of Languages and Social Sciences - in the range of 75-85% average as a minimum.  


If you are applying for finance, engineering or science based subjects, you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree. 

There are a number of conversion courses in the Business School which will accept students from any subject background.   

Postgraduate - MBA  

You can apply for the MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least an undergraduate degree from a recognised Chinese university with at least 70-75% average as a minimum.

In order to apply to a research degree at Aston, you should have a Masters degree from a Chinese university but the specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Chinese university which you have graduated from. In general applicants should be scoring in the range of 75-85% average as a minimum.     

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more.  

You have to submit a detailed research proposal outlining your intended research topic, its objectives, proposed method of research and an indication of how the proposed research topic relates to previous work by other researchers. Find out more on Aston's Postgraduate research pages

Languages and Social Sciences Excellence Bursary

Available for all Aston LSS graduates who hold a First Class Aston undergraduate degree, the LSS Excellence Bursary provides an additional: 5% discount on your Masters Tuition Fees which complements the existing 20% Aston Graduate Discount.

In total, the LSS Excellence Bursary and the Aston Graduate Discount amount to 25% off your Masters Tuition Fees reflecting our commitment to support the top undergraduate students in the School of Languages and Social Sciences.

In order to be considered for our regional scholarship, candidates will have to be resident of the above regions and be able to demonstrate how they can become an ambassador of the Aston MBA programme once they complete their studies.
