South Korean students holding a High School Diploma must first study our International Foundation Programme, which has streams available in Business/Social Sciences, Engineering, and Health Science/Science.

South Korean applicants holding either the Academic or Vocational High School Diploma will be required to complete a recognised Foundation Programme.

For entry to the International Foundation Programme we would require an overall B grade average. Individual subject marks may also be required as well as evidence of you Englishlanguage ability.  

You may apply for Year 1 of an undergraduate degree upon graduation with a Diploma from a recognised Junior College in South Korea.

Some degree programmes, such as engineering, sciences and languages, require specific subject backgrounds.  Others, including business and some social sciences, are appropriate for students from any previous subject combination.   

Postgraduate – Taught 

You can apply for a 1 year masters programme with an undergraduate degree from a recognised Korean university.

You should have at least a GPA of 3.0 from a Korean university. The specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Korean university from which you have graduated.

If you are applying for finance, engineering, science or social science based subjects; you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree.  There are a number of conversion programmes in business and management which are appropriate for students from any subject background. 

Postgraduate - MBA

You can apply for the MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least an undergraduate degree from a recognised Korean university with at least a GPA of 3.0.

You can apply for a research degree programme with an undergraduate degree from a recognised Korean university.

You should have at least a GPA of 3.0 from a Korean university. The specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Korean university from which you have graduated.

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more. 

You have to submit a detailed research proposal outlining your intended research topic, its objectives, proposed method of research and an indication of how the proposed research topic relates to previous work by other researchers. Find out more on Aston's Postgraduate research pages

Languages and Social Sciences Excellence Bursary

Available for all Aston LSS graduates who hold a First Class Aston undergraduate degree, the LSS Excellence Bursary provides an additional: 5% discount on your Masters Tuition Fees which complements the existing 20% Aston Graduate Discount.

In total, the LSS Excellence Bursary and the Aston Graduate Discount amount to 25% off your Masters Tuition Fees reflecting our commitment to support the top undergraduate students in the School of Languages and Social Sciences.

Su Youn Yoo Scholarship

Aston Business School alumna (MSc Marketing Management 2001) Su Youn Yoo has established a £3,000 scholarship in her name to support students from South Korea studying at Aston University. 

Having graduated from Aston University, Su Youn Yoo established her own business, U-Star English Institute (, teaching English to students and business professionals. She is the CEO of this highly successful company and has also works as a radio show host for Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS).


To be considered for the Su Youn Yoo scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be full overseas fee payers and nationals of Korea coming directly from Korea to study at Aston University;
  • Hold a conditional or unconditional offer for a postgraduate taught programme of study at Aston University.
  • Be prepared to work with Aston University’s International Office to share with future students their experiences of application, arrival and study at the University.

How to Apply

If you are interested in being considered for the scholarship, you should write a short essay of no less than 500 words explaining why you should be awarded the Su Youn Yoo Scholarship and why you wish to pursue postgraduate study at Aston University and submit by the deadline of 30 June 2018.

Terms and Conditions

There is one scholarship available worth £3,000. The scholarship will take the form of a reduction in tuition fees.  No cash alternative is available.

The closing date for applications for the 2018/9 academic year will be 5pm (UK Time) on 30 June 2018.  The successful applicant will be notified by email within two weeks of the closing date. 

The decision of the panel is final. No further discussion will be entered into and there is no right of appeal.
