Testimonials

Numair Ahmed Khan, Pakistan

"I chose Aston because of the reputation it possesses. The alumni profiles and its triple accreditation from leading MBA bodies was another determining factor to come to Aston.

The diversity of the cohort is impressive as I have met students from various backgrounds and professional fields.

I have thoroughly enjoyed living in Birmingham and traveling around the UK and the EU. The university has also engaged us in a lot of extra activities including a study abroad trip to France. The location of the campus is also excellent."

MBA

Rishitha Rasiraju, India

"I chose Aston University because it is one of the few universities which has a triple accredited business school. The quality of teaching is excellent.

At Aston, students and staff are from all over the world and people are really friendly.

Aston is located in the city centre and everything is lively and wonderful. Of course, since Birmingham is the second largest city in the United Kingdom, the best part is the nightlife, as there are many clubs and pubs. I would definitely say you won’t have any regrets choosing Aston."

MSc International Business

Aneesa Patel, India

Originally from India, Aneesa Patel studied BSc Business, Management and Public Policy, graduating in 2019.

"I chose Aston University due to the unique choice of course it offered and the quality of its teaching standard. At the time of admission, I did not find a more relevant course in a university in the UK to pursue which aligned with my goal of pursuing a career in environmental consulting.  I completed an undergraduate course in BSc Business, Management and Public Policy with an integrated placement year, which helped me gain the relevant knowledge and experience in a wide variety of subjects related to business and the environment.

Birmingham was a perfect mixture of a homely town and commercialisation. I enjoyed the convenience of the access to the Birmingham city centre from Aston University. I loved my weekends in Birmingham since the city centre was filled with life, especially with street performers and a variety of social events. I experienced my first-ever pride parade in  Birmingham and it was one of the most memorable experiences! Apart from that, it was also very convenient to travel around the UK to various destinations from Birmingham due to New Street train station and the international airport. I truly enjoyed sightseeing with my friends every other weekend.

My course was more practical and related to real-world issues such as climate change and racism and business ethics, rather than only being theoretical. Most of the business subjects involved learning theory via real-life case studies as opposed to just learning from textbooks. Similarly, the sociology subjects involved group discussions and project work which not only let us learn more about the subject but also learn about different perspectives of people from different background and cultures. The diversity on campus is something that made my experience at Aston even more memorable because I was able to learn about cultures and make friends with people from all around the world.

The staff at Aston were very helpful at every step of my university experience. Whether it was the counsellors in the Counselling Service when I felt overwhelmed with exams, or my personal tutors when I needed guidance on matters not related to my course, I always had someone to talk to and guide me forward. During my placement year, the careers team helped me to prepare my CV and went through multiple sessions to prepare me for my interviews. With the confidence I gained with their help, I managed to secure an amazing job role at IBM UK!

Apart from all the subject lecturers focusing on delivering skills that would be useful at jobs, I joined various societies at University such as Enactus Aston and the Patent Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Club that helped me gain skills relevant for employability. I also completed additional courses offered such as learning an additional language (I learnt Mandarin) and website development course by CodeFirst hosted in the university. Also, since my course had an integrated placement year, I was able to secure a placement at IBM UK which boosted my experience significantly.

I am currently back in India and plan to pursue a career as an environmental consultant. After few years of relevant experience I plan on pursuing a Master’s degree in environmental management."
