Testing booths and sample preparation

Our testing booths are one of our key facilities. They comprise six individual test areas, each equipped to assess psychological status and feeding behaviour. Each booth contains:

cutting fruit
  • A PC, running both the MEL and E-Prime systems for the assessment of neuropsychological function
  • A Sussex Ingestion Pattern Monitor - which allows for:
    • Continuous measurement of food intake over extended periods of time
    • Assessment of mood state and somatic sensations
    • The measurement of attitudes and opinions to test foods or other issue of relevance
  • Variable lighting, enabling food to be consumed under white, red or blue light in order to mask visual cues presented by test foods.

The laboratory is equipped with extensive scientific kitchen facilities for the preparation of test meals and samples.
