Ali’s research interests are centred on the development of innovative particle design and fabrication strategies that can contribute to the future precision manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. He has expertise in pharmaceutical particle engineering gained throughout several industrially focused projects. He also has specific know-how developing process workflow charts and manufacturing protocols for pharmaceutical processes (particularly spray drying) to control the particles’ primary properties e.g. size, morphology, crystallinity and porosity. Ali endeavours to develop a practical and scalable approach to manufacture custom-built particles which will ultimately enable efficient and streamlined pharmaceutical processing. Current research efforts aim to tackle the main technical challenges of pharmaceutical spray drying to help the industry achieve their targets.
