Comparing English and German housing policy - tentative findings
This presentation gives some initial results of the research project comparing English and German housing and planning policy conducted by Ed Turner, Susanne Marquardt (WZB) and Bill Davies (IPPR). After giving an initial overview of some key data for the two housing markets and the policy context in which these are embedded, it develops eight key propositions based on comparison between the two cases, as potential lessons for policy-makers in the two countries. In doing so, it draws upon primary and secondary data collected by the project, as well as the findings of two “round table” events with practitioners from the two countries, and ascertains that there is very significant potential for useful comparison.
