James Essex is a PhD candidate in the field of Applied Linguistics researching the internationalization of higher education in Japan and its implications for ELT. He has lived in Japan since 2004 in which time he has taught in secondary schools, the Japanese military and universities in Tokyo. He is a member of several associations including BAAL, IATEFL and JALT and serves as an associate editor of the Asian EFL Journal.
