Aston University welcomes new Director of Library Services

  • Helen Curtis is welcomed as Director of Library Services in March
  • She joins Aston University following a distinguished career in higher education

Aston University has welcomed Helen Curtis as its new Director of Library Services.

Helen takes up the position following three years at Loughborough University as Assistant Director Academic and User Services at Loughborough University. Before this she held library management positions at the Universities of Warwick and Wolverhampton as well as Arts University Bournemouth.

As well as an MA in librarianship, Helen has a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. Her recent experience includes development of a new library strategy, the development of digital strategies, and extensive liaison across university departments to support research and teaching. She is well connected in the national university library community, including via her conference presentations and other involvement in the Society of College, National and University Libraries (SCONUL) and Mercian library networks.

Speaking of her appointment, Helen said: “I am delighted to be joining Aston University as the new Director of Library Services and to be taking the next step forward in my career.

“Aston is an excellent university with an ambitious strategy and I am looking forward to leading the library team and delivering an exceptional library service.”
