Aston Law has been rated 2nd in the UK by Legal Week, with Cambridge, Aston and Oxford its top three overall.
Aston was ranked 1st in the UK by student assessments for employability prospects post-graduation, and 5th in the UK for offering students ‘best value for money’.
It is another success for the Aston Law team, with Senior lecturer Odette Hutchinson named Law Teacher of the Year by Oxford University Press.
Professor Jill Poole, Head of Aston Law and Deputy Dean of Aston Business School, said; “As the home of OUP’s Law Teacher of the Year and a promoter of the integrated placement year, we are delighted that the Legal Week annual student survey has recognised our emphasis on the quality and individualisation of the student experience and enhancing employability skills.
“We receive excellent feedback from law firms, chambers and other graduate employers about each of our students, their professional skills and ability to understand and interpret both the legal and commercial landscapes. The success of Aston Law students in securing training contracts, pupillage and graduate roles in business is impressive. The Legal Week student ranking is a further achievement for us and sends a clear signal to prospective students of legal education and the legal sector more generally’.
Legal Week’s Law Student Report (LSR)captures the views of over 3,300 law undergraduates from the UK's top universities. It provides law firms with an in-depth view of the career options considered by students and how this develops throughout their studies, what attracts them to law and the most powerful influences on their choice of firm.
The top five universities in the survey were Cambridge; Aston; Oxford; Aberdeen and Queen Mary, London. All received an ‘excellent’ rating.
