Aston retains ‘top 30’ rating in University Guide

University retains top 20 ranking

Aston University has been ranked 27th out of 123 UK Universities in The Complete University Guide 2015 and its Opthalmics course rated 1st overall in the country.

The University has three top ten UK subject ratings in the independent guide

Other strong performing subjects placed in the UK's top 20 subjects are:

Aston's 'student satisfaction level' was also ranked highly, scoring 4.14 out of five, placing Aston University joint 16th in the UK.

The impartial guide, which provides prospective and current students with a comprehensive overview of universities, analyses everything from academic strengths and research through to facilities, student support and student satisfaction. It is the second year running that Aston University has been placed at 27th in the UK.

Aston is also placed in the top 30 overall in all three UK 2014-15 rankings: The Complete University Guide, The Sunday Times/Times Good University Guide and Guardian University Guide.

Dr Bernard Kingston, principal author of The Complete University Guide, said: "The league tables, taken with the rankings for specific subjects, offer would-be students an accurate and independent guide to the UK university system. They should not be used in isolation but alongside all the other advice and information in the Guide. Its tables are recognised for their stability and consistency, and this year once again demonstrates this."
