Aston host London Stock Exchange SMEs event

Aston Business School

29 September 2014

Aston Business School is hosting an event for the world’s leading growth market, on Monday 20th October 2014, to give small and medium sized businesses an insight into what it is like to float on the stock market.

AIM is London Stock Exchange’s market for smaller and growing companies. Since its launch in 1995, more than 3,500 companies have joined, raising over £85 billion to fund their growth. The entry criteria for AIM are tailored for growing companies with no trading record required, no minimum size and no prescribed level of shares to be in public hands.

The event, Talking Business with London Stock Exchange, will explain what is involved in an Initial Public Offering (IPO). With expert advice from AIM and case studies from companies who have successfully completed an IPO, it will help companies looking to raise capital to realise their ambitions and potential now or in the future to decide whether an IPO is the right option for them.

Lucy Tarleton, UK Equity Primary Markets, London Stock Exchange, said:“The decision to take your company public is one of the most significant steps a business may take. This event will outline the key benefits of admission to a public market, give an insight into the principal issues that can arise during the process of joining AIM, as well as the ongoing responsibilities and opportunities that arise once on the market.”

Professor George Feiger, Executive Dean, Aston Business School, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming London Stock Exchange to Aston Business School. We support business growth and enterprise in the West Midlands in many ways. This is further evidence of our commitment to support SME businesses in our area.”

“Talking Business with London Stock Exchange” is on Monday 20th October 2014 from 5.30pm to 8.30pm at Aston Business School (Birmingham B4 7ET).
