ECR news and activities

This page provides information on a number of activities and events that are relevant to Aston's ECRs.
RKE has developed a new “Complete Funding Series” aimed at taking researchers through all the steps they need to take to make a successful funding application and help build their research career. The series includes topics, e.g. The Grant-cycle, Research funding landscapee and RCUK proposal. For further information, click here.
We would like to invite research staff and particularly ECRs at the University to participate in the trial of the Vitae Researcher Development Framework Planner. The Planner is a web-based tool, which is designed to help researchers plan and record their career development. More precisely, it is created to enable them to:
  • Review their capabilities, skills and expertise
  • Reflect on their achievements
  • Identify areas for development
  • Create an action plan
  • Access relevant Vitae resources and training at the University

This trial will run until the end of November 2014 and will be available to the ECRs and other research staff at the University. Once the trial is complete, we will ask for your feedback. Your participation and feedback will be extremely important because it enables the University to decide whether it uses this tool for professional and career development of its research staff. If the feedback is positive, the University will adopt the RDF Planner as a tool for supporting the personal, professional and career development of its research staff and you will be able to continue to use it after November 2014, through an Aston licence.

Please email Loc Doan, if you wish to participate. He will then send you an automated link, inviting you to register for the RDF Planner.
