School of Engineering and Applied Science announces £5,000 Women in Engineering Scholarships
To mark this weekend’s International Women in Engineering Day on 23rd June, we are delighted to announce the School of Engineering and Applied Science will be awarding a number of new Women in Engineering scholarships worth up to £5,000 each. Designed to attract the brightest and best female applicants to study at Aston, the scholarships will offer successful applicants a programme of mentoring and support throughout their programme, along with networking opportunities with business and industry.“At Aston, we believe diversity is crucial to innovative thinking and developing creative ideas which is fundamental to the work and ethos of our School. We are committed to equality across the School and beyond and that’s why I’m delighted to announce these new scholarships to mark International Women in Engineering Day” Professor Sarah Hainsworth, OBE and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.The School of Engineering and Applied Science at Aston is proud to have a number of senior women in leadership positions, as Dean, Deputy Dean and in the School Executive team. All successful recipients of the Women in Engineering Scholarship will receive one-to-one career mentoring by a member of the School’s senior team.The scholarships are open to all female international applicants who have received an offer to study an engineering or applied science programme* at Aston, and who complete the separate scholarship application form below before 11th July 2019. Applicants will be notified if they have been successful two weeks after the deadline date, and successful applicants must accept their offered place by 31st July 2019.We are committed to offering the highest quality of teaching, based on cutting-edge research, and aim to give our students the skills and knowledge they need to make a success of their future career. Scholarships of up to £5,000 are available. In order to be considered for a £5,000 Women in Engineering scholarship you will need to submit a personal statement (maximum of 500 words) telling us why you would like to participate in the programme
To apply for a £5,000 scholarship, you will need to hold an offer for an undergraduate or full-time postgraduate programme starting in September 2019. We also require you to submit a personal statement of no more than 500 words to support your scholarship application. Your personal statement should explain why you would like to participate in the programme and can be submitted below:
The Women in Engineering scholarships are open to all female international applicants. Male applicants are encouraged to apply for the Aston Global Excellence Scholarship. Aston welcomes students from all backgrounds. We take pride in our diverse student body who come not only from all over the world, but also from a wide range of social and educational backgrounds. Scholarships will not just be awarded to those with the highest grades, but to female students who show the greatest potential and who could benefit the most from an Aston degree.EU students are also welcome to apply for this scholarship.

Applicants to all full-time 1-year postgraduate courses in the School of Engineering and Applied Science are eligible for a scholarship. You must have received an offer for the course before the deadline dates above. We will notify you if you have been successful two weeks after the deadline date. International applicants to all undergraduate courses in the S chool of Engineering and Applied Science are eligible for a scholarship. You must have received an offer for the course before the deadline dates above. We will notify you if you have been successful two weeks after the deadline date. If successful, you must accept your offer of a place to study at Aston by 31st July 2019.
All undergraduate programmes are within the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
You can only receive one scholarship but you are able to apply for multiple scholarships. If you apply for a £5,000 scholarship and are unsuccessful, you will automatically be considered for a £3,000 award. If you are successful in being awarded multiple scholarships, the highest value scholarship will be awarded to you. Scholarships will automatically be credited to your student account in the form of a tuition fee reduction.
