Delicious Orie

Sport: Boxing

Course: BSc Economics and Management

Highest Sporting Achievements: England Development National Champion 2017, ABA Senior Elites Quarter Finalist 2018, East Midlands Box Cup superheavyweight Elite Champion 2018 

Delicious Orie is an individual who has competed at the very top level in his discipline. Delicious has competed in National championships, where many times he has come out top. Delicious aims to win the ABA senior elite England boxing championships, and consequently to break into the top 3 in the UK. Delicious also is competing in BUCS this year (he has two gold medals from previous years) and aims to get the gold again. 

Hamzah Ahmed

Sport: Boxing 

Course:  BSc Sociology and Social Policy 

Highest Sporting Achievements: On the team England Talent Squad, 2016 NABGC Midlands Champion, 2017 and 2018 ABA Youth Midlands Champion

Hamzah Ahmed is a well accomplished boxer, who has big aspirations in his boxing career. Hamzah has competed and has had success at both Regional and National Level and is looking for more of the same in the  future. Hamzah's aims this year are to be the Youth NABGC National Champion, British University Championships Champion and Senior ABA National Champion.

Bethan Rees

Sport: Javelin (Outdoor athletics)

Course: BSc Neuroscience 

Highest Sporting Achievements: 3rd in Senior British Athletics Championships, 2nd at the England Athletics U20/U23 Championships, 1st in the UK for U20 Women and 3rd in the UK Senior Women’s rankings.

Bethan Rees has trained in Javelin for many years, competing in various events and bringing home lots of silverware. This year he is aiming for even better as he aims to place well at national events across the country and to continue representing both the GB and Welsh teams. Bethan trains very hard with up to 16 hours per week on and off the track and she is looking to showcase her skill for Aston in the University championships. 

Nichole Birmingham 

Sport: Hammer Throw & Shot Putt 

Course: Biomedical Science

Highest Sporting Achievements:  National English Schools Athletic Association representing the West Midlands and have competed in the English U20 championships

Nichole Birmingham is a keen athlete, specialising in the Hammer Throw and Shot Putt. Nichole aims to compete in the English U20 Championships and to defend her current championship titles in Warwickshire and The Midlands. She also will continue to compete in various regional leagues. She also has taken part in volunteering at schools and sporting events, acting as a role model for others. 


Lydia Watts

Sport: Cycling 

Course: Business and Management 

Highest Sporting Achievements: 1st in age group at the National Closed-Circuit Time Trial 2017, 4th in the National Junior 25 Mile Time Trial 2018, 1st in my age group in the National 25 Mile Time Trial 2018, 31st in the British National Road Race Championship 2018.

Lydia Watts is an extremely motivated individual who has cycled numerous times at national level. Lydia has already succeeded in being first in her age group at her Time Trials. She aims to gain a medal in the U23 British National Time Trial Championships in 2019 and compete in Belgium on an international level. She is keen to expose herself to more top athletes in a variety of competitions. 


Alvin Martin 

Sport: Triathlon 

Course: Construction Project Management

Highest Sporting Achievements: 26th in the Glasgow Triathlon European Championships and qualified for 2020. Competes for GBR at many events.

Alvin Martin is a very motivated sportsman who competes in Triathlon. He works alongside his coach to get the most out of his training in order to compete at the highest level possible. Alvin aims to finish top 10 at the 2019 European championships in Russia and gain entry into the 2020 championships.
