Aston University actively supports sustainable travel and was recently accredited for its sustainable travel plan by Modeshift stars to support the city of Birmingham’s 2030 net-zero target and the aim to reduce the number of cars travelling into the city centre.

Benefits of sustainable travel

  • Using public transport reduces the congestion and pollution caused by driving into the city centre, improving air quality and quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
  • Travelling by active modes such as walking and cycling is good for your health and is great way to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.
  • Save money – sustainable travel options are a great way to save money on your commute. With the rising cost in fuel, considering options that reduce fuel consumption can save you money in the long term.
