Get to grips

All postgraduate students have the opportunity to work on a real business project during their degree studies. To achieve this, we're teaming up with local organisations, asking them to partner on our modules. A business that partners a module will:

• Attend one of the first lectures on the module and present a real business issue that's happening in the organisation
• Return to one of the final lectures and receive solutions from students
• Award a placement of at least four weeks to the best student.

ARUP

Arup was founded in 1946. Our work addresses every aspect of the built environment, from initial planning and advisory services, through building design and structural engineering. We are a community of collaborators, bringing together over 90 disciplines to help realise our clients’ commercial goals. In the UK we’re at the forefront of developing new transport systems like Crossrail or Heathrow Terminal 5, producing inspiring workplaces like Whitecollar Factory and helping cities prepare for climate change.

CREME

The Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME), based in Aston Business School, delivers leading-edge expertise on business support for minority entrepreneurs. Through its research and engagement initiatives, CREME has transformed the perceptions of ethnic minority entrepreneurs by working with business policy-makers and influential organisations to engage collaboratively with overlooked or disregarded business communities. Headed by Professor Monder Ram OBE, CREME has garnered an enviable reputation regionally, nationally and internationally for its pioneering research and business engagement activities, striving to promote diversity and ethnic enterprise. The idea of partnering a module with Aston Business School aligns perfectly with CREME’s guiding principle of engaged scholarship; which is to be able to apply insights and research findings to real business issues, and thus enables this ambition to make a meaningful and tangible contribution to businesses.

 

OAKS

Since 2008, we have been working with organisations of all shapes and sizes across the sport, education, public and third sectors. From international sport-for-development charities, Premier League football clubs and National Governing Bodies of sport through to multi-academy trusts and schools, our passion is in supporting organisations with a genuine social purpose. Whether it is strategy development, business planning, income generation or any other critical business function, we will help you raise your game.

Square Peg Foundation

Square Peg Foundation is a charitable organisation based in the West Midlands supporting children and adults with a range of additional needs.

"We are really looking forward to working with your students to inject a bit of youth into the mix and also to learn some new ways of thinking.  We are hoping they can bring new ideas and methods of working which will increase our revenue and therefore improve our service to disabled children."
