Three minute thesis

Movie trailers convince in under five minutes. Billboard ads compel with just one image. Why should research be any different?

3MT® is a thesis presentation concept initially developed at The University of Queensland in 2008 (www.threeminutethesis.org). Since then, more than 170 universities across the globe, including Aston, have joined the movement.

Starting this year, our winners will be given the chance to participate in the West Midlands 3MT® competition and access higher competition stages there onwards.

All presenters who wish to have their talks made available on the public domain (Aston University youtube channel) are invited to contact the lead organiser and sign a consent form.

Remember, preparing and delivering a 3MT® presentation will not only make your research accessible to a wider audience but also help develop synthesis, abstraction and communication skills, all powerful assets in the academia and beyond.

You can find more information on the Vitae website and view Aston presentations from previous years here. For more information about the competition, please email RKE_Research_Training@aston.ac.uk
