Whilst at Aston I studied IBML French. What I really like about IBML is the integration between the language and the business parts of the course, it allowed me not only to learn all the right vocabulary for living and working in France, but also to learn about the culture of business in France and why things are done the way they are. I also really enjoyed the chance to learn about French history, culture and politics – I particularly enjoyed the module on France since the Revolution in my first year, and the French and English law modules in my second year. IBML allows you to develop an understanding of business in other countries which really helps in the final year modules of International Marketing and International Operations, as well as being very useful beyond graduation. My year abroad was fantastic and it improved my confidence 100% - once you have done a presentation in French to native French speakers, doing a presentation in your own language suddenly holds a lot less fear! During my year abroad I studied at Audencia Nantes Ecole de Management and also did a short work placement in a small start up in the same city. My time abroad has not only left me with fantastic memories and friends for life, it has also inspired my next career move into the Arts after specialising in the management of cultural institutions in my second semester at Audencia. I’m proud to be an IBML graduate!
