How did the quality of teaching and student support enhance your time at Aston?

At first I was shocked at how comprehensive the course was. Being out of education for a number of years, I worried it would take me a long time to understand the content but after meeting the lecturers and study lab staff I felt so supported and comfortable to ask questions to ensure complete understanding. They not only made the content manageable, they made the experience an enjoyable one as well! I really enjoyed my time in lectures.

What was the highlight of your time at Aston?

I hadn’t been a part of any higher education before this and my highlight was being on campus, learning about a subject that I was so passionate about and meeting likeminded people. I absolutely loved every minute of it.

What was your experience of spending time on campus?

This was my favourite part of the course. A lot of our learning was completed online and through the company I work for. My time at Aston was my favourite part of the course, spending time back in a classroom environment face to face with lecturers and colleagues. It meant we were able to question our understanding and bounce off each other with ideas.

How was your experience of studying via distance learning?

I have 2 young children so studying via distance learning was a challenge! It forced me to be disciplined and organised but also allowed me to fit learning around my family and pursue my dream career.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying at Aston?

Studying at Aston gave me some of the most rewarding moments of my life, sign up for something you are passionate about and try to remember to enjoy it!

If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice as a first year student, what would it be?

Try not to panic so much about the practical assessment at the end, just breathe and stay calm, you can do it!
