Lisa Brooks collecting Excellence Award

Lisa Brooks, who works as a temporary member of staff at Graduate Advantage, has been chosen from hundreds of workers to be awarded Graduate of the Year at the 2010 Katie Bard Excellence Awards.

Every year the awards held by leading recruitment agency Katie Bard, aim to recognise the talent of temp workers across the Midlands and UK and highlight their contributions to the economy.  The awards acknowledge and celebrate workers who have been truly outstanding in their roles and have exceeded employer expectations.

Lisa Brooks is currently working in the role as a Placements Assistant within Graduate Advantage, which help recent graduates within the West Midlands obtain short paid internships with local businesses and organisations in order to give graduates more experience in today’s harsh employment climate.

She was nominated for the award by Clara Wilcox, placements manager at Graduate Advantage for her ‘proactive attitude, going the extra mile and volunteering to take on extra responsibility’.

Lisa said: “It was a really rewarding feeling to be acknowledged for my contributions to Graduate Advantage since being here, and I feel that my eagerness to get involved and hard work here is a testament to what I feel is a fantastic organisation and top-notch team. I’ve really been made to feel like a fully-fledged, valued member of staff, rather than ‘just a temp’.”

Verity Stokes, of Katie Bard recruitment, added: “Lisa is an outstanding graduate and worthy winner of this top award.

Ever since Lisa first made contact with us her attitude, application and work ethic has been nothing but exceptional and I’m delighted that we have been able to engage such a great graduate within a West Midlands business and retain such talent locally.”

Katie Bard is part of the international Angela Mortimer Group and recruits permanent and temporary staff across the Midlands for a full range of office support and executive roles starting at graduate entry through to executive level.

Notes to editor:

Graduate Advantage arranges paid and unpaid internships. It is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2003 to build and improve links between the business community and the student and graduate population in the region. The scheme is supported by a consortium of 12 universities, led by Aston University. By providing high calibre work placements for graduates, the team is supporting businesses during the economic downturn and at the same time encouraging the talent to stay within the region.
